Create a positive and enjoyable experience for those living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia and their care partners with Brick-by-Brick Bonding™
Caring for those living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia is extremely difficult.
We know you love the person you are caring for, otherwise you wouldn’t be doing it. But it doesn’t mean it’s not stressful work and we understand that. We want to support you and show you a way to de-stress while engaging with your loved one. Brick-by-Brick Bonding™ encourages creativity and joy.
Before the pandemic, we worked with seniors living in Memory Care Communities in the San Francisco Bay Area where we learned what worked and what didn’t work with this population. Now we want to help the families who are alone taking care of their loved ones but do not have medical training and are simply doing this from their heart. We understand how difficult this must be and want to share with you what we’ve learned working with the seniors we love.

FAQ
What is a Brick-by-Brick Bonding™?
Brick-by-Brick Bonding™ is a 45-minute to one hour activity, where you and your loved one will build with LEGO bricks and pieces. Our proven method engages and thrills seniors living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia with colors, shapes, figures, accessories, and animals. These simple yet engaging activities will become your favorite activity of the week. Since there is no right or wrong way to build with LEGO pieces, you will never run out of ideas or ways to build.
You will learn how to:
- Engage with your loved one and make it a special time you and your family will enjoy
- Set the tone and create a stress-free environment
- Select the best pieces and which sets to buy to support your activity
- Bring out everyone’s creativity
- Most importantly! To have fun and laugh out loud.
Why is Brick-by-Brick Bonding™ important?
Being in the moment is difficult in this day and age. Sometimes we need a prompt to cause us to stop and simply be in the moment. Brick-by-Brick Bonding™ will help you do that.
Feelings of accomplishment and joy improve quality of life. Unfortunately, with different forms of Dementia, completing a puzzle or simply coloring can be difficult. On the other hand, building requires curiosity to figure out how pieces connect. Our approach encourages this type of curiosity. Since the majority of seniors never worked with LEGO pieces, they find a sense of wonder about the bright colors, shapes, figures, accessories, and animals.
Feeling young again, who doesn’t want to feel young again? Youth is about being curious about the world around us. Most of our clients are attracted to the colors and shapes and thrilled when you take a few pieces and build something they are familiar with.
Building with LEGO bricks and pieces taps into the present, not the past they struggle to remember. Anyone can build with these bricks. What makes our method unique is the way we approach working with those living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, who need to feel valued and able to express themselves. Brick-by-Brick Bonding™ does that.
